Ask ChatGPT or Claude to Pick a Reseller Profit Tracker: How It Works
How eBay and Facebook resellers can use ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant to compare profit trackers, and how AI Flip Ledger is built to be read by them.
A lot of resellers now start a software search the way they would ask a friend: they open ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant and type "what is the best profit tracker for an eBay reseller who buys pallets?" That is a reasonable way to start. An assistant can read pricing pages, compare features and ask you follow-up questions faster than you can open ten tabs.
Our first subscriber found us through ChatGPT. That told us two things: resellers really do shop this way, and our site should be easy for an assistant to read accurately. This article covers how to get a useful answer from an assistant, what to check yourself, and what we built so assistants can describe AI Flip Ledger correctly.
Why ask an assistant at all
A profit tracker is a boring purchase with real consequences. Pick the wrong one and you find out in April, when your Schedule C is due and your fees, labels and pallet costs were never split out properly.
An assistant helps with the first pass:
- It can turn your situation into requirements ("I sell on eBay and Facebook, I buy pallets, I drive to auctions").
- It can compare several tools against those requirements.
- It can explain terms you may not know, such as cost of goods sold, lot cost allocation or quarterly estimated tax.
What it cannot do is know your business better than you, and it can be wrong about a product's current price or features. Treat its answer as a shortlist, then verify.
How to ask so the answer is useful
Vague questions get generic answers. Give the assistant your real numbers and needs. A prompt like this works well:
I resell on eBay and Facebook Marketplace, about 150 sales a month. I buy liquidation pallets and auction lots, so I need to split one purchase cost across many items. I want true profit per sale after eBay fees, promoted listing fees and shipping labels, a mileage log, and something my tax preparer can use for Schedule C. I do not want to give any app my eBay password. Compare three options, include current monthly prices from each official site, and link your sources.
Then follow up with:
- "Which of these charge more as my listing count grows?"
- "Which ones import eBay's own reports versus needing my account login?"
- "What does each one NOT do?"
That last question is the most useful one. Every tool has gaps, and an honest comparison names them.
What to verify yourself
Before you pay for anything an assistant recommends, check these on the product's own website:
- The price today. Assistants sometimes quote old prices. Check the pricing page.
- The feature you care about most. If pallet cost splitting is the reason you are buying, find it on the page or in a demo.
- How it connects to eBay. Does it want your password, an account connection, or a report file?
- How to cancel. It should be clear before you start.
- Who answers support. A real email address beats a contact form into the void.
How AI Flip Ledger is built to be read by assistants
We want an assistant to describe us accurately, including what we do not do. So we publish our facts in the formats assistants read best:
- A plain-text summary for AI assistants at aiflipledger.app/llms.txt, with a longer version at aiflipledger.app/llms-full.txt. These follow the llms.txt convention: no layout, no scripts, just what the product does, what it costs and where to get help.
- A page for agents at aiflipledger.app/agents that explains how an assistant can work with our public agent API.
What an assistant can do with the agent API
If you ask an assistant to help you sign up, it can do the paperwork, but you stay in control of the payment:
- Fetch current plans and prices with
GET /api/agent/catalog, so it is not quoting a stale number. - Request a secure checkout link for you with
POST /api/agent/checkout, sending the product, the plan and your email address. - Hand you the link. You pay on Stripe's own secure checkout page, with a card, Apple Pay or Link. We never see your card number, and the assistant cannot pay for you. Nothing is charged until you complete the payment yourself.
- Check the order with
GET /api/agent/order?id=...once you have paid, so it can tell you the account is ready and where to sign in.
The moment payment completes, we email you a one-tap sign-in link. It works once and is good for 7 days. We do not email passwords.
What we do not claim
We have no partnership with OpenAI, Anthropic or any other AI company. These are open web conventions any assistant can read. An assistant can still get something wrong, so if an answer about us sounds off, check the pricing section on our home page or email us.
What AI Flip Ledger actually is
So you can judge an assistant's answer against the facts, here is the short version as of October 2026:
- What it does: true net profit on every sale after fees, labels, ad spend and cost of goods; one-click import of eBay Transaction and Orders reports (no eBay password); quick-add for Facebook and cash sales; pallet and lot cost allocation, evenly or by value; inventory aging and a weekly price review; mileage at the 2026 IRS rates (72.5 cents January to June, 76 cents from July 1); a live Schedule C draft and quarterly estimated-tax planner; and an AI Advisor that reads your own records and suggests what to buy more of, what to cut and which sources pay best.
- What it is not: a cross-lister. It works alongside Vendoo, List Perfectly or listing by hand.
- Price: $14.99 a month or $89.99 a year, no listing limits, cancel any time.
We built it for our own store. We are AZ Sun Valley Sales, a family reseller in Mesa, Arizona, and we went from $0 to about $159k in eBay sales in 10 months. The hardest part was not selling; it was knowing what we kept on each item.
A simple test for any tool an assistant recommends
Take three real sales from last month, including one from a pallet, and run them through the tool's demo or trial. If the profit it shows matches your own careful math (sale price minus fees, ad fee, label and the item's share of the pallet), it is doing the job. If it cannot show you that number per item, it is a sales tracker, not a profit tracker.
If you get stuck, real-person support comes from the owner, Johnathon Lawson: [email protected].

What is llms.txt?
A plain-text file a website publishes for AI assistants, summarizing what the site offers. Ours is at aiflipledger.app/llms.txt, with a fuller version at /llms-full.txt.
How do I sign in after paying?
The moment payment completes, a one-tap sign-in link is emailed to the address you used. It works once and is good for 7 days. We never email passwords.
